The End of the Dial

by on July 22, 2008

Last night was my last full night in Buenos Aires, I have been here for 10 full days and nights and we have done so much it feels as if its been a month long. There is still so much to do and I am really envious of Devin who gets to spend the next 6 months in this beautiful city. For my last 2 nights here we have been driven around and entertained by Carolina, now our resident guide and good friend. She took us to a local Parilla which is the Argentinian version of a barbecue and we ordered up a feast of meat. The Argentines keep it pretty simple when it comes to their meat, they rely on top quality cuts rather than soaking it in sauces and spices. It’s pretty amazing how satisfying a high quality steak is in its pure form.

It was also nice to drive around in Carolina’s car and see parts of the city we could never reach on foot. Devin had just bought a Gotan Project CD in La Boca earlier that day and it was decided that it would forever be considered the soundtrack to this adventure. Riding the subway the next day we even noticed that the voice sampled in the below song “Santa Maria (Del Buen Ayre)” was taken directly from the automated announcer heard on every stop of the subway in Buenos Aires.
