Roll Call

by on October 8, 2008

I am trying to make a ritual of adding new sites to my blog roll regularly, one reason being my promiscuous reading habits with new sites means I need to keep a running record of where I am wasting time, but also because they are all rad and should be clicked on. I’ll try to make a habit of this just like Embed Cred, and for that matter lets call this one Roll Call.

The first site to make my seldom noticed but well respected blog roll is Favtape, the answer to Muxtape’s unfortunate demise, and a welcome step up in features. Using the Seeqpod API, Favtape manages to pull off the amazing feat of being an easily navigated and fully stocked music streaming destination. Check out my favorite favtape, the iTunes 100 chart. (I’m from the music business, I am addicted to charts. Sorry.)

The Dieline is a killer design blog that picks the best and most contemporary packing design in the world to display. Every time I come here I get my mind blown with not only the scope of the creative designs being manufactured in packaging but also the brilliant packaging architecture that comes with it. It’s well worth getting deep into this blogs posts…

Hipster Runoff has actually been on my blog roll since day one, but because it is the most consistently hilarious site online, I have to feature it. HRO as the sites acronym goes, manages to lampoon hipster trends before they manage to become trends, its amazing how he does it. For example he was the first to call out the Sleeping over at your boyfriends house fashion trend, and I totally saw a chick wearing a dudes dress shirt as a skirt today…

p.s. I am aware that Favtape and Hipster Runoff are jocking the same logo, but I call this one in HRO’s court as he’s been around since 2K6 and I think his is making fun of the all caps sans serif electro dj Myspace header trend that swept the world in 2K7.
